Today, our company, Mary’s Pizza Shack Corporation, filed for bankruptcy. All our restaurants remain open, and we are not closing any locations.

This is the final step of a larger process our family began a couple of years to ago to preserve the Mary’s Pizza Shack brand.

We announced in the fall of 2022 that our company was restructuring from a single corporation into smaller family-owned units to improve guest experience by having third- and fourth-generation owners work alongside the next generation of Mary’s Crew Members.

The corporate restructuring occurred in February of 2023, and a thorough discovery process determined this is the best route to preserve Mary Fazio’s, our Noni, legacy. Mary’s granddaughters will acquire the brand in this process.

This year, we celebrated 65 years of being in business, and we’re not going anywhere! The legendary recipes you grew up on are staying the same and gift cards will continue to be honored and sold at all locations.

Last year, we announced that Mary’s family was embarking on a company transition from a single organization into smaller owner-operator groups. Earlier this year, we successfully completed the process, and so for the next couple of weeks, we’re going to RE-introduce you to Mary’s 3rd & 4th generation, as well as extended family, who are working side-by-side our pizza makers, servers, and cooks ensuring that our Noni’s pizza shack that began in 1959 continues for generations to come!

 

 

 

We start with Terri & Cully Williamson. Terri is one of Mary Fazio’s granddaughters and grew up in the family business. Cully started with Mary’s on January 9, 1981, serving as the CEO from 1998 – 2009. Since then, Terri and Cully have owned the Mary’s Pizza Shack in Rohnert Park, whose business model inspired this transition plan for the family! We’ll talk more in a couple of days about Rohnert Park, but today we’re excited to share that Terri & Cully are now owners of BOTH Santa Rosa locations on Marlow & Summerfield.

 

 

 

Cully opened a handful of Mary’s locations, including both Santa Rosa locations, and one of his early accomplishments was bringing delivery service to Mary’s Pizza Shack, first as a standalone concept in 1989 and then fully to the restaurants in 1992.

And he’s doing it again!

 

 

 

That’s right, guests that call in to Santa Rosa for delivery or order online through our website will have a Mary’s Delivery Driver at their service. It’s our food, and our drivers: Mary’s delivery service is BACK at Mary’s in Santa Rosa.

We have been in business for over 60 years, and our commitment to a fun and safe environment remains the same as it was when my Noni started her Shack in 1959.

A great experience at Mary’s begins with the pride we’ve taken in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in our restaurants. Also, we are vigilantly following the latest developments and guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other appropriate agencies. The good news is that our health and safety procedures, listed below, are exactly what these agencies are recommending:

• We disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects with sanitizing cleaners after each contact
• All Crew Members wash hands every 20 minutes with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth
• We monitor dishwasher sanitization levels, ensuring they are at the proper and recommended specifications, throughout each shift
• Most important, all Crew Members are prohibited from working if they show any sign of illness
• Additionally, should you feel more comfortable enjoying our homemade recipes at your home, we are ensuring extra precautions with our delivery drivers and delivery partners for a seamless and safe delivery experience.

We will continue to monitor information from public health and government officials, and we will remain vigilant in our preventative measures to ensure our restaurants remain clean and our communities safe.

#7 – Spaghetti and Giant Meatballs

For sixty years, this dish has never been off the menu at Mary’s Pizza Shack. Few offerings on our menu are as beloved as these giant meatballs, especially on top of a hearty portion of spaghetti with meat sauce. Now you can bring the classic flavors to your kitchen.

#6 Baked Polenta with Sausage and Mushroom Sauce

In Italy, shops selling housewares stock plug-in polenta paddles that can be clipped to the side of the pot to do the stirring. At the restaurant, Mary served polenta with a hearty sauce of sausage and mushrooms. She also served polenta with Rabbit alla Ischiatana when making it for her family at home.

#5 – Three-Cheese Calzone

The Three-Cheese Calzone is perfect for satisfying hearty appetites. You shape the dough into a round the same way as for a pizza, but you fold it over a creamy three-cheese filling, seal the edges, and bake until lightly puffed and golden brown. Before serving, each calzone is topped with tomato sauce and cheese and returned to the oven just long enough for the cheese to become bubbly and irresistible. Got teenagers at home? Take it from us: We guarantee they’ll clean their plates.

#4 Toto’s Italian Remedy Soup

Toto swears by this soothing chicken-and-rice soup as the Italian grandparents’ cure-all. Cold Season is here, and a big part of the magical healing properties of Toto’s chicken soup comes from the comforting smell of the simmering broth, which seeps into every corner of the house.

#3 – Stuffed Pasta Shells

Stuffed shells are a classic Italian American comfort food. It takes a little extra time to stuff each shell with the ricotta mixture, but the results are worth it. The Cookbook also provides information for a vegetarian option.

#2 – Minestrone

Mary’s original soup of the day was a sturdy vegetable-beef combination. When customers began to ask about minestrone, an Italian restaurant standard, Mary developed her own version, serving up a hearty bowl filled with pinto beans slowly simmered with smoked pork shank, then combined with onions, carrots, tomatoes, pasta, and spinach. Like many hearty soups, this keeps well and tastes even better the next day!

A big, bubbling pan of Chicken Parmesan is truly the pinnacle of January cooking. We like to serve our Chicken Parmesan over a side of creamy fettuccine Alfredo.
